There is a Christmas that is different from ours, a Christmas at 40 grades. A Christmas of self-denial and sacrifice among ruins and pain. This is the Christmas of the Alpinos sappers of the second regiment of Brigade "Julia", who replaced the eighth regiment of Folgore Parachute Brigade in the bosom of European Union military mission in Central African Republic (EUROF RCA), which is stationed in Bangui, capital of the country. For Alpinos, it is a come-back in the African Continent after 20 years from United Nations peacekeeping mission in Mozambico. EUFOR RCA mission has 700 troopers from 13 countries at its disposal, whose goal is to keep peace and security in a country that in 2013 was affected by a political crisis that generally caused thousand of victims and one million of evacuees, that is a quarter of the inhabitants. Now, European forces are working in order to help the deployment of United Nations blue helmets, that will come to an end in March 2015. The Second Alpine Engineer Regiment of Trento, which is already involved in fixing a street in the centre of Bangui, will have a basic role in the realization of an important European project; the building of a bridge that straddles two districts that were the scena of violent interdenominational conflicts. Among these proud Alpine sappers there is Emanuele Reho (31 years old), who is native of Taviano and arrived in the Central African capital since few days. They wish Caroli Hotels Cup, all the participants and Salento people Merry Christmas: it is a way to bring down lots of kilometers of distance and to feel nearer to his own territory and relatives, also with heart. The organizational tema of the tournament as a whole thank them warmly for their spirit of service and self-denial.
