MEMORY BOOK: 2006 5TH EDITION
Carnival Tournament of Gallipoli - Santa Maria di Leuca Cup is on the up and reaches the fifth edition from the 25th until the 28th of February 2006. Sixteen teams took part in it: Juventus, Bari, Lucerna, Lazio, Roma, Inter, Ravenna, Montefiore Gallipoli, Pescara, Atalanta, Reggina, Milan, Salignano, Terranova, Lecce and Ajax. Inter, that won last edition, did not get through a heat because was defeated by Roma, that prevailed over Juventus in the semi-final match (2-1). In the other semi-final match, Milan dominated Lecce at the penalty kicks (5-3) after normal times ended 1-1. At the consolation game for the third place, Juve beats Lecce (4-3) at the end of a spectacular competition. In the final match, the Red and Blacks prevailed over the Yellow-Reds (6-5), once again at the penalty kicks, writing its name in the tournament gold book for the first time.
